Pre-AP™ Science (MS)
July 24 - 27, 2017
James Madison High School, San Antonio, TX

The Pre-AP Science APSI is designed to take participants through each of the major components of a Pre-AP curriculum and then show participants how to incorporate the components into their own classrooms. Participants will be doing a variety of labs, activities, and projects that illustrate some aspect of the wide spectrum that makes up Pre-AP Science. Topics include the following:

  • Defining what Pre-AP Science is and how it can facilitate to a student's future success in science
  • Incorporating Pre-AP skills into instruction
  • Different types of inquiry-based classrooms
  • Making open-ended inquiry more approachable to students who are new to the process,
  • Assess labs based on how student vs teacher driven (inquiry vs cookbook) they are and work on modifications for a successful Pre-AP classroom.

Teachers are encouraged to bring their own classroom materials to work with and to share with the group.
